The square of the Ferrarese

The square of the Ferrarese is found after the one of the city gates of the Mediaeval city. It takes its name from a merchant of Ferrara who lived in Bari during the 16th century. It an enormous space which is used for a popular local market.. On the left hand side one can perceive the apse , the Romanesque building, the mediaeval church of the Vallisa, dating back to the 11th century, today fully restored and consecrated. The piazza also hosts the splendid building called palazzo Sparita, noted for its sun dial on its façade.
