Teatro Petruzzelli

The need for a new Metropolitan theatre was immediately necessary in the years following the completion of the work on the Piccinni, but it was only in the final quarter of the 18th century that the building was built thanks to the help of the brothers Onofrio and Antonio Petruzzelli. It was the victimof a tragic fire on the 27th October 1991, which devastated the interior, today it is only possible to visit the outside. The first floor of the fa├žade culminates with a pediment decorated with statues, in which one is Apollo crowning the Musa, and balconies and windows with busts of musicians.
