The provincial art gallery
The building was built in 1928, in and around the first nucleus of Venetian painters, and by acquisitions, donations and legacies, now to be enjoyed with the newly restored ambience with its splendid view of the mediaeval city and the old port.
One can find 11th century sculptures, 12th century tables, and paintings from the 15th century to the present day, including the Madonna col bambino (Madonna with child) and i Santi Antonio ad Enrico (the saints Anthony and Henry) of Paris Bordone. There is also “San Rocco e gli appestati” of Tintoretto, “Madonna in gloria con le Sante Orsola e Caterina” by Veronese, the portraits of Giuseppe de Nittis, Gioacchino Toma and Domenico Morelli. The Greco collection has enriched the gallery with works by Giovanni Fattori, Giorgio de Chirico and many more illustrious artists.
