The block house of Sant’Antonio Abate

 

The first sightings of the blockhouse of Sant’Antonio Abate date back to the second half of the 3rd century, when the nucleus of watch out towers at the port were threatened on more than one occasion to be left in ruins. The building , has been restored on many occasions and emerged in the second half of the 15th  century, when Isabella d’Aragon financed the restoration to its original beauty. The blockhouse is dedicated to Sant’Antonio Abate, there is a statue to his memory preserved inside the building.
