The first sightings of the blockhouse of Sant’Antonio Abate date back to the second half of the 3^rd century, when the nucleus of watch out towers at the port were threatened on more than one occasion to be left in ruins. The building , has been restored on many occasions and emerged in the second half of the 15^th  century, when Isabella d’Aragon financed the restoration to its original beauty. The blockhouse is dedicated to Sant’Antonio Abate, there is a statue to his memory preserved inside the building.
